About this site
The 8 Dimensions of Wellness started as a simple idea: being "well" means more than eating right and getting to the gym. It's also how you handle stress, who you can call at 2 a.m., whether your work drains you, and whether you know where your paycheck went last month.
The eight dimensions come from a model used by the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), based on the work of Dr. Peggy Swarbrick. We use it because it's practical. When life feels off, it helps you find the part that's actually off.
What you'll find here
- The wellness wheel quiz. Sixteen questions, two per dimension, about two minutes. You get a picture of where you're strong and where you could use some attention.
- Articles. Practical guides for each dimension. We stick to what the evidence supports and say so when it doesn't.
- Quiz Shorts on YouTube. Thirty-second A, B or C questions at Wellness Quiz Hub.
A note on health information
Everything here is general information for adults. It isn't a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and it can't know your history, your medications or your circumstances. Please check with a doctor, pharmacist, therapist or financial professional before making big changes. If you're thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 in the US, or your local emergency number.
